Hi, all.
Happy New Year! We’re back to work!
You may remember that last year I ran a Giving Circle to raise money for The States Project’s efforts in Pennsylvania—they were working to help flip seats blue in the PA House of Delegates.
And they did it! With resounding success! In fact, Democrats won a majority by one seat! 102-101!
So that’s the great news.
The less great news is that one member of the majority, Rep. Tony DeLuca, has passed away, and two other members will be resigning their seats to take other positions (Rep. Summer Lee won a seat in Congress and Rep. Austin Davis won the Lt. Governorship — bench building!) This means there will be three special elections in February that will re-determine control of the chamber, and we need to hold these seats. If we lose any one of these elections, Republicans will have a majority in Harrisburg again. That would be bad in all kinds of ways.
Fortunately, the States Project team is working in PA to make sure we prevail.
So once again, I’m raising money for them— I hope you’ll consider giving if you can! If we’ve learned anything in the past few years it’s just how important these state-level elections are.
Please give any amount here. And tell a friend! Every penny you give will go to the States Project’s work in Pennsylvania for these February elections. I’ve set a lofty goal of 10K, so any amount you can give will be much appreciated.
I’ll be back soon with other ways you can help. Thanks!
Jess
