Hey, Team PA!
First and foremost, EARLY VOTING IN PENNSYLVANIA STARTS ON MONDAY. Tell this to everyone you know!!
Early voting is important for so many reasons- if you want to hear me talk about these reasons, you can watch the video below. The TLDR (TLDW?) is:
Allows campaigns to streamline their resources and update potential voter lists, increasing their effectiveness and chances of winning
You can stop receiving all the mailers, emails, and text messages
Social influence and building momentum
Gives you time to track your ballot
Here’s the link if you’d like to share this video and get out the word about why we all need to vote ASAP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkTlnLLkfPw
In other news, you can knock on doors with NOPE next weekend for the Harris-Walz campaign and local Dems. If you sign up for both days (September 21 and 22), there are hotel rooms reserved, but you can also opt to do only one of the days. Canvassing will take place in Harrisburg or York- sign up here to receive more details!
Also, I know I’ve already talked about this event, but I’m mentioning it again because it’s that awesome! Join Senator Bob Casey, Janelle Stelson, and Rep. Jordan Harris on Wednesday, September 18, to discuss how we win up and down the ballot. This meeting will cover how best to get involved- from volunteering to donating strategically. Add it to your calendars now because I (most likely) won’t bother you all about it a third time! Click here to register.
Last but not least, the Grassroots Collaboration has a great and very extensive group calendar for all of your PA volunteering needs! Check it out here (the events calendar is on the top right).
That’s it for now, but before I sign off I want to thank all of you in advance for taking the time to vote early- truly. Your votes are already so important, and casting them earlier makes them even more helpful to Harris and other Dems.
YOU ARE AMAZING!!
Jess
Jessica, I am so glad you're doing this. Here's a tip your readers may appreciate:
To help Kamala win, we need to encourage millions of moderate and undecided people to register and vote Blue. Some voters in battleground states have had their registrations illegally cancelled– extremists are submitting fake death certificates! So even voters who have registered/voted in the past now need to check their status.
Registration deadlines vary: in Georgia it’s Oct. 7, but check your state. I don’t text or phone bank because these days, so few people answer a phone number they don’t recognize – it’s a waste of time. So I’m sending postcards to voters in Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and North Carolina. Postcards with the voterizer.org/ QR code lets people quickly learn if they’re (still) registered, they can easily register if needed, and request an absentee/mail-in ballot. Absentee voting is important because many people won’t feel safe going to vote in person, with the unrest we are bracing for.
Postcarding purists entirely hand-write each card for a personal touch. But how many cards can you send that way? If you order pre-printed cards you can add a sentence to personalize the card. You can download addresses by state - it comes in an Excel file, you can do a mail merge and print stick-on labels at home. Doing it this way enables me to mail hundreds of postcards!
If you buy cards that don’t have the printed voterizer QR code, you can print it yourself on a sticky label and affix it to the card. Or write this web address - “Can I vote?” https://www.nass.org/can-I-vote
You can buy pre-printed cards from either of the following:

WHO WILL JOIN ME IN GETTING PEOPLE IN BATTLEGROUND STATES TO REGISTER AND VOTE BLUE?
While early voting in PA was supposed to start Monday, just like North Carolina, there has been some delay in printing ballots. From the NY Times Sept. 12th https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/12/us/politics/trump-harris-mail-ballots-election.html?searchResultPosition=6
"In Pennsylvania, another issue over the status of third-party candidates has also slowed election workers’ ability to prepare mail ballots, said Forrest Lehman, the director of elections in Lycoming County.
“We can’t do a thing. We need to know exactly who is on and not on the ballot,” Lehman said. “If you work too far ahead, you’ll just end up crying into your beer later when the ballot changes.”
